Here we have SD26 #4602. Technically, Santa Fe sold all thier SD26's by spring of '90 (my modeling time) but I really like these locos, with all those air tanks on the roof, just so cool looking. So I'm bending time a bit, and including a few on the OVS. I'll have them working the yard or something.... Because of this, I really wanted to rust/dirty this thing up, so I worked from this pic and this pic. I used many different kinds of paints and weathering chalks to get that dirt bomb look.
This loco also got a few major modifications. When I was working on it, I broke off the air valve thing that sticks up between the handrails on the outside of the walkway. Good thing I had an NSN one I could replace it with. The other major mod is the pilots. The stock loco has the wrong pilots, so I used some BLMA pilot overlays, with the bottom modified to match the prototype. These turned out really good, and I'm sure I'll use them in the future for other locos.
Details include:
BLMA cut levers, MU hoses, air hoses, windshield wipers, sunshades, rear view mirros, pilot overlays
custom speed recorder
misc. painted pieces
weathered with chalks and paints
Z scale couplers
Digitrax DZ123 decoder

Stock (same as 4602)
