Just a quick update, had time tonight after a defeating day of football. Cut out more supports for the upper level on the peninsula. Still not sure on how far they are going to stick out over the lower level on the yard side. I want to get a 24" radius curve in on the upper level, but after some quick measurements, I might be forced down to a 22" radius, which is fine, since that is what the helix is, but I'd like to get it as large as I can. I did cut the supports for a 24", no big deal to cut them down if needed later on.
Yesterday was spent on a trip to Home Depot to get the rest of the 1/8" and 3/16" masonite I'm going to need to complete all the backdrops and spline roadbed. I'm gonna start pushing myself to get all the backdrops in and the rest of the lights up over the next few weeks. I'm tired of working and taking pics in the dark, and I have a few ideas on how I want to change the upper level/room lights so I need to get all the backdrops in to be able to start on that. I really want to see some trains moving, but I learned from last time that the backdrops are step #1!

First of the lower level backdrops to go in.

Another shot. Curve is 12". That's about as far as 1/8" masonite will curve down to before starting to split apart.

Upper level support #1. I also am trying some spackling this time instead of wood filler. It sure sands easier! The mess it makes is the same though =/

Upper level piece of backdrop cut out and ready to go in.

Cross braces added. Just temporary right now, still have to cut out the bottoms for the lower level lights.
